Cities in the Southeast head the list of high pollen counts released by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Allergy sufferers may often wonder if they should move to a different region to avoid the worst of allergic culprits. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has released this list of the 2008 Fall Allergy Capitals of the United States, sponsored by Zyrtec. The Fall Allergy List is based on pollen counts in 100 cities.

Whether someone chooses to make a move, or avoid traveling to a particular region for health reasons is a personal one. Allergens tend to be everywhere. People with allergies are best armed with knowledge. Local news channels often broadcast area pollen counts, valuable information for allergy sufferers. The AAFA recommends taking a medication to control indoor and outdoor triggers.

This year's research showed an overall increase in pollen counts for 2008. The overall average pollen count in the subject cities was 48.44%. Even within an area, pollen counts can vary, literally depending upon the direction of the wind. Ragweed pollens can blow up to 400 miles, so the regions around the subject cities are likely to have similar counts. Ragweed Allergies the Scourge of Indian Summer
